Hollingwood Primary believes every child can succeed in mathematics through a mastery approach that builds confidence, curiosity, and resilience. The curriculum, based on the National Curriculum and supported by White Rose Maths, is carefully sequenced to develop secure understanding from EYFS to Year 6. Lessons emphasise fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving, using clear modelling, mathematical language, and CPA approaches. Assessment identifies and addresses gaps quickly, while scaffolding supports all learners. As a result, pupils develop strong conceptual understanding, articulate their reasoning effectively, and apply skills in real-life contexts. They demonstrate positive attitudes and achieve strong outcomes, consistently performing above national averages and being well prepared for future learning.
